You do not pick a sender address on this form. Add your addresses under the organization menu → Manage → Addresses. You choose the sender address on each shipment or in a shipping rule. Every outbound product ships from an address in the Netherlands.
Before you start
- A contract with GLS Netherlands and the username and password of your MyGLS account, which GLS Netherlands gives you with the contract. This is GLS Netherlands’ own MyGLS, not the MyGLS of GLS in Central Europe.
- If your MyGLS account holds more than one GLS customer number, the one you ship with.
- For Test mode, a test login from GLS Netherlands. Your live login does not work in the test system.
Connect GLS Netherlands
1
Open All carriers
In the sidebar, click Carriers, then open the All carriers tab.
2
Find GLS Netherlands
Find the GLS Netherlands card and click Connect.
3
Fill in the form
The Connect carrier window opens. Enter a Carrier name, your Username and Password. Customer number and Test mode are under Optional fields.
4
Connect the carrier
Click Connect. You see “Carrier connected”, and the carrier appears on the My carriers tab.
Fields on the form
Connect does nothing until Carrier name, Username and Password have a value. Zippendo saves your details without checking them with GLS. A mistake shows up the first time you send a shipment.
Keep the password up to date
When GLS refuses the username or password, Zippendo stops sending requests with that password for about an hour, so that repeated attempts do not lock your MyGLS account. When you change your MyGLS password, update Password on Edit carrier straight away. Zippendo uses the new password at once. After you connect
The carrier appears on My carriers with a Connected badge and a Beta badge. You choose the product on each shipment or in a shipping rule. See Carrier products and services.
A parcel takes at most 32 kg. Destinations outside the EU are not offered: these shipments carry no customs data.
Services and options
- ShopReturnService (return label in the parcel): GLS prints a return label with each parcel label, for your customer to use. It is listed on the shipment’s Documents tab after the parcel labels. Offered on GLS BusinessParcel, GLS ExpressParcel and GLS ParcelShop Delivery.
- SaturdayService: delivery on Saturday, on GLS BusinessParcel.
- Delivery before (required on GLS ExpressParcel): before 09:00, 12:00 or 17:00 on a weekday or on Saturday. Saturday delivery costs extra.
- Label format: PDF (A6), or ZPL for a Zebra label printer at 203 or 300 dpi. The shipment’s Documents tab lists the label size as 100x150.
Service points
GLS ParcelShop Delivery delivers to a GLS ParcelShop. Choose it in the Service point section of the shipment before you send. The search lists GLS ParcelShops in the Netherlands near the receiver’s postal code. The receiver needs an email address or a phone number, so GLS can tell them the parcel has arrived. See Pick a service point.Labels, tracking and pickups
- Each parcel gets its own label and GLS parcel number. GLS issues a label once, when you send. If GLS books a shipment but returns no usable label, Zippendo cancels the booking at GLS and tells you, so you can send it again.
- Zippendo fetches tracking updates from GLS Netherlands about once an hour with your login. There is nothing to set up. See Carrier tracking webhooks.
- GLS Netherlands is not available under Pickups. For a one-off collection, send the shipment with GLS Pick&Ship. Arrange regular pickups with GLS directly.
Change or remove the connection
To change it, open Carriers → My carriers and click Edit carrier on the card. Carrier settings holds Username, Password, Customer number and Test mode. Click Save. You see “Carrier updated”. To remove it, click Delete on the same page, type the carrier name in capital letters, and click Delete. Shipping rules that use this carrier are deleted with it. Shipments you already sent keep their labels and tracking numbers.Common problems
