What you need from DHL Express
- A DHL Express account number (your shipper account, which DHL bills).
- A MyDHL API username and password. DHL Express gives you these for your account. There is no public page where you create them yourself.
- Optional: a Location Finder API key from the DHL developer portal, if you want to deliver to DHL Service Points. You create it yourself after you register on the portal and request access to Location Finder.

Connect DHL Express

Open All carriers
In the sidebar, click Carriers, then the All carriers tab.

Click Connect on DHL Express
Find the DHL Express card and click Connect. (Learn more opens the DHL Express website.)

Fill in the form
The Connect carrier window opens. Carrier name is already filled in with “DHL Express”. Fill in Username, Password and Account number. Scroll down to Optional fields for Test mode and Location Finder API key.

Click Connect in the window
You see Carrier connected. DHL Express now appears on My carriers marked Connected.

Test or live
DHL Express has separate test credentials. With Test mode on, enter the test Username and Password DHL gave you. With it off, enter your real ones. Mixing them up makes every shipment fail. Turn it off before you ship real orders. More in Test mode.After you connect
You choose a DHL Express product when you create a shipment or a shipping rule. See Carrier products and services. The products include DHL Express Domestic, DHL Express Worldwide, DHL Express Worldwide (Documents), DHL Express Worldwide (EU), DHL Economy Select, DHL Economy Select (EU), DHL Express 9:00, DHL Express 9:00 (Documents), DHL Express 12:00, DHL Express 12:00 (Documents) and DHL Express Envelope. Several have a Return version for return shipments. You can add the Shipment insurance service, and choose PDF (4x6) or ZPL (thermal) under Label format.- DHL Service Points: DHL Express Worldwide (Service Point) and DHL Express Worldwide (EU) (Service Point) deliver to a DHL Service Point. Choose one in the Service point section of the shipment before you send. Searching for DHL Service Points needs the Location Finder API key. See Pick a service point.
- Pickups: DHL Express is not available under Pickups.
- Tracking: Zippendo fetches tracking from DHL regularly. There is nothing to set up.
- Customs: DHL Express creates the customs documents and commercial invoice for international shipments. See Customs and documents.
If the connection fails
Zippendo saves your DHL details without checking them. A mistake shows up the first time you send a shipment.

Change or remove the connection
- Change: on My carriers, click Edit carrier. Update the fields under Carrier settings and click Save.
- Remove: on the same page, click Delete, type the carrier name in capital letters (for example
DHL EXPRESS) and click Delete. Shipping rules that use this carrier are deleted too. Shipments you already sent keep their labels and tracking numbers.
