Connect GLS Denmark

Connect GLS Denmark to create GLS labels from Zippendo for business and home deliveries, GLS ParcelShop deliveries, express parcels and returns, in Denmark and abroad. This is the connection for a GLS agreement in Denmark, not for GLS in another country. This page covers GLS Denmark only. What you need from GLS

A GLS Denmark shipping agreement.
Four values GLS gives you with that agreement: Login name, Password, Customer ID and Contact ID. You cannot create them yourself in Zippendo. Ask GLS if you do not have them.

Connect GLS Denmark

Open All carriers

In the sidebar, click Carriers, then the All carriers tab.

Click Connect on GLS Denmark

Find the GLS Denmark card and click Connect. (Learn more opens the GLS Denmark website.)

Fill in the form

The Connect carrier window opens. Carrier name is already filled in with “GLS Denmark”. Fill in Login name, Password, Customer ID and Contact ID. Test mode is under Optional fields.

Click Connect in the window

You see Carrier connected. GLS Denmark now appears on My carriers marked Connected.

What to enter

Field	Required	Description in the form	What to enter
Carrier name	Yes		The name you see in Zippendo. Keep “GLS Denmark” or change it.
Brand	No	Only this brand can use this carrier.	Shown only if your organization has brands.
Login name	Yes	GLS customer number used for API authentication (LoginName)	Your GLS customer number. It is a number, not an email address.
Password	Yes	GLS account password	The password GLS gave you for this login.
Customer ID	Yes	GLS customer ID (typically same as login name)	Your GLS customer ID. Usually the same as Login name.
Contact ID	Yes	GLS contact identifier for your account	The separate contact ID GLS gave you. It is not your customer number.
Test mode	No	Enable test mode (uses GLS test environment)	Leave it off for real shipments. See below.

Test or live

With Test mode on, Zippendo sends your shipments to GLS’s test system. Ask GLS which login works there before you turn it on. The GLS ParcelShop search always shows GLS’s real shops, even in test mode. Turn Test mode off before you ship real orders. More in Test mode.

After you connect

You choose a GLS product when you create a shipment or a shipping rule. See Carrier products and services. You send from Denmark, and each parcel can weigh 0.1 to 31.5 kg.

GLS BusinessParcel	Business deliveries in Denmark and Europe
GLS PrivateDelivery	Home deliveries. The receiver needs an email address and a mobile number.
GLS ShopDelivery	Delivery to a GLS ParcelShop chosen by the customer. The receiver needs a contact name, an email address and a mobile number.
GLS Express 10, GLS Express 12	Delivery before 10:00 or 12:00
GLS GlobalExpress	Deliveries outside Europe
GLS Pick&Ship	GLS collects a parcel at one address and delivers it to another. No label is created.
GLS ShopReturn (return shipment)	A return label your customer drops off at any GLS ParcelShop
GLS Pick&Return (return shipment)	GLS collects the return at your customer’s address. No label is created.

Service points: for GLS ShopDelivery, choose the GLS ParcelShop in the Service point section of the shipment before you send. See Pick a service point.
Pickups: GLS is not available under Pickups.
Tracking: once Zippendo switches GLS tracking on, GLS sends tracking updates to Zippendo as they happen, also for most shipments you sent in the 14 days before. Until then, each shipment shows the GLS tracking number and a link to GLS’s tracking page.
Customs: GLS does not create customs documents. Zippendo creates them when a shipment needs them. See Customs and documents.

If the connection fails

Zippendo saves your GLS details without checking them. A mistake shows up the first time you send a shipment.

What you see	What to do
Nothing happens when you click Connect	Fill in Carrier name and all four GLS fields.
You’ve reached your plan’s limit. Upgrade your plan or remove something you no longer use.	Your plan’s carrier limit is reached. Upgrade or delete a carrier you no longer use (Billing and usage).
The carrier rejected your login details. Update the carrier credentials under Carriers.	Check Login name and Password, and check that Test mode matches them.
GLS doesn’t accept this address. Check the address and postal code, then try again.	Correct the receiver’s address on the shipment.
This product delivers to a service point. Select a service point before sending.	Choose a GLS ParcelShop on the shipment.
The selected carrier product does not ship between these countries. Choose a different product.	Choose a GLS product that covers the receiver’s country.
The connection to the carrier was lost before it answered. Zippendo has no confirmation that the shipment was created, so check with the carrier before sending again.	Check with GLS whether the shipment exists before you send it again.

Change or remove the connection

To change the connection, open My carriers and click Edit carrier. Update the fields under Carrier settings and click Save.

To remove it, click Delete on the same page. Type the carrier name in capital letters (GLS DENMARK) and click Delete. Shipping rules that use this carrier are deleted too. Shipments you already sent keep their labels and tracking numbers.
