What you do where
You cannot add a printer from the Printers page. Printers only appear there after you add them in Zippendo Printer. Until then the page says No printers yet and Printers appear here when you add them in Zippendo Printer.

Open Printers
In the Zippendo app, click Printers in the sidebar.

Choose your system
Click Download Zippendo Printer at the top of the page. Under Download for your system, pick the line that matches your computer. The installer downloads straight away.

Open the downloaded file
Double-click the
.dmg file in your Downloads folder.2
Move the app to Applications
Drag Zippendo Printer onto the Applications folder in the window that opens.

Open Zippendo Printer
Open it from your Applications folder. The first time, your Mac asks whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Click “Open”.

Run the installer
Double-click
Zippendo-Printer-win-x64.exe in your Downloads folder.2
Follow the installer
You can change the install folder. The installer adds Zippendo Printer to the Start menu and the desktop.
Sign in
You sign in through your browser, with the same email and password you use for the Zippendo app. There is no code to type.1
Click Sign in with your browser
Zippendo Printer opens on Welcome to Zippendo - Connect your printer to start printing labels from Zippendo. Click Sign in with your browser.

Authorize Zippendo Printer in the browser
Your browser opens Zippendo. Sign in if you are asked to. The page Authorize Zippendo Printer shows Signed in as with your email and how many organizations Zippendo Printer gets access to. Click Authorize Zippendo Printer.

Go back to the app
If your browser asks whether to open Zippendo Printer, allow it. The page then says Authorization complete. Close the browser tab. Zippendo Printer switches to Printer overview by itself.

Advanced options in Zippendo Printer
Add a printer
Make sure the printer is turned on and installed on this computer first, so you can print a test page from your computer’s own printer settings.1
Open Add printer
On Printer overview, click Add your first printer. Once you have printers, click + Add printer next to the Printers heading.

Fill in the fields
All four fields are required. If one is empty, the app says Fill in all fields..

Click Add printer
The printer appears in the list with Waiting for approval in Zippendo. Approve it as described below.
You can add the same printer twice, once as Label printer and once as Document printer, but not twice with the same type.

Approve the printer in Zippendo
A new printer cannot print until someone in your organization approves it. This stops unknown computers from receiving your labels.1
Open Printers
In the Zippendo app, click Printers in the sidebar. The new printer has the status Pending approval.

Approve it
Open the menu at the end of the printer’s row and click Approve. You see Printer approved and the status changes to Active.

Read the Printer overview
The top of Printer overview tells you whether Zippendo Printer is connected to Zippendo. This is about the internet connection, not the cable to your printer.
Reconnect appears when the status is Connection error or Disconnected, and only works once at least one printer is approved.
Each printer in the list has a colored dot:
To remove a printer, click the trash icon on its row and confirm. This also deletes it from Printers in Zippendo.
Printer overview before any printer is added
Keep it running
Zippendo Printer only prints while it is open.- Closing the window does not stop the app. It keeps running in the menu bar (Mac) or the system tray (Windows).
- Click the Zippendo icon in the menu bar or tray to see the status and to open the window again with Open Zippendo Printer.
- Quit in that menu stops printing. Jobs sent while the app is closed wait in Zippendo and print when you open it again.
- Zippendo Printer does not start by itself when the computer starts. Open it again after a restart, or add it to your computer’s startup apps.
- If the computer goes to sleep, nothing prints until it wakes up.

Print and check the result
Nothing prints from Zippendo Printer’s own window. Labels and documents are sent from the Zippendo app:- Automatically when you send a shipment, if you turned on automatic printing. See Auto-print labels and documents.
- By hand with Print or Print all in the Documents card on a shipment page. See Shipment printer settings.
Change the printer later
Rename a printer, change its type, or turn on Rotate wide pages to portrait on the Printers page in Zippendo, not in the app. See Add a printer.Settings in Zippendo Printer
Click Settings at the bottom of Printer overview. Click Back to overview to return.
If you sign out and sign in again on the same computer, your printers come back.
