A brand is a separate shop or label inside your organization. If your company runs several webshops, say Nordic Home and Nordic Kids, you can keep each shop’s orders and shipments apart, while everyone works in the same Zippendo organization on one bill. Each brand can have its own company name, address, logo and colors on the documents its shipments produce, and its own VAT number and customs identifiers if it is a separate company. Manage brands under Settings → Brands.

Brand or separate organization?

Use a brand when the shops belong to the same company: one subscription and one team that mostly works across all of them. Use a separate organization when the businesses are fully separate, or each must be billed on its own. Each organization has its own plan, billing, team, carriers and data, and you move between them with the organization switcher. See Switching organizations.

Which plans include brands

  • Pro - up to 5 brands.
  • Enterprise - unlimited brands.
On Free, Standard and Growth, the Brands tab is visible but locked. See Pricing and billing.
Archived brands still count toward the limit, because they keep their slug and their records. Delete a brand you no longer need, or upgrade for more.
A brand’s own logo and colors also need custom branding, which Pro and Enterprise include. Without it, documents use neutral Zippendo branding whatever the brand.

Create a brand

1

Open Settings → Brands

Click Create your first brand, or Add brand if you already have brands.
2

Name the brand

Enter the Brand name, for example “Nordic Home”.
3

Check the slug

The Slug is filled in from the name (nordic-home). It must be unique in your organization, and developers use it to name the brand in the API and integrations. Pick something short. You cannot change it later. Zippendo tells you if the slug is Available.
4

Fill in the brand's details

Zippendo opens the new brand’s page. Fill in Invoice details, Address, Customs identifiers and Document branding. Then click Save changes.
To create, edit, archive or delete brands, you need a role with Edit organization or Edit everything, and your account must not be restricted to a brand. Field by field: Create a brand.

Work in one brand

When your organization has brands, a brand picker appears at the top of the sidebar. It lists your active brands, plus All brands for the whole organization, and Manage brands to open Settings → Brands. See Switch organization and brand. Your choice stays for the rest of your session, and it changes what the whole app shows:
  • Orders, shipments and print jobs are kept apart. Inside a brand you see only that brand’s. Records that belong to no brand appear only in All brands.
  • Carriers, sender addresses, shipping rules, order channels, printers, automations, webhooks and pickups are shared. Anything not assigned to a brand belongs to the whole organization and is available in every brand, so you do not have to connect PostNord again for each shop.
The easiest way to send work to a brand is the order channel. Set its Brand, and the orders it brings in, and the shipments and documents made from them, belong to that brand. Things you create yourself while a brand is selected belong to that brand too.
Carriers, sender addresses, shipping rules, order channels, automations, webhooks and pickups each have a Brand field. Pick a brand to make the item available only to that brand. Pick No brand (organization-wide) to share it with every brand again. The lists for these have a Brand filter:
  • In All brands, pick All brands, No brand or one brand to see what belongs to whom.
  • Inside a brand, pick All records, Only this brand or Organization-wide only.

Brand details on documents and customs

A brand’s page has two kinds of settings, and they work differently. Company name, address, logo and colors fall back one field at a time. A brand that only uploads a logo still shows the organization’s company name and address on its documents. Clear a field to use the organization’s value again. VAT number and customs identifiers (EORI, IOSS, VOEC and the rest) come either all from the organization or all from the brand. The brand’s Use the organization’s customs information switch decides which:
  • Switched on (the default): the brand ships under the organization’s VAT number and customs identifiers. This is right when the brand is just a shop name of your company: its own logo and company name on the packing slip, your company’s VAT and EORI numbers on the customs declaration. Numbers typed in the brand’s own fields are kept but not used.
  • Switched off: the brand declares only its own identifiers. The organization’s numbers do not fill any gaps.
Switching it off is all or nothing. A brand that has filled in only its own VOEC declares no IOSS and no EORI, not the organization’s, so its parcels abroad can be held at customs or charged import VAT on delivery. Only switch it off when the brand is a registered company of its own, and then fill in every identifier it ships under.

Archive or delete a brand

Archiving is the safe choice. An archived brand disappears from the brand picker and from the Brand lists, but it keeps everything: its orders, shipments, documents, settings and slug. Those records stay visible in All brands. The brand stays in the Brands list with the status Archived. Click Restore to bring it back. Restoring needs a plan that includes brands. Deleting is permanent and only possible while the brand is completely empty. Zippendo refuses to delete a brand while anything still belongs to it: orders, shipments, carriers, shipping rules, sender addresses, order channels, printers, print jobs, automations, webhooks, pickups, team members, API tokens or pending invitations. You see This brand still has data linked to it, such as orders, shipments or carriers. Archive it instead of deleting it. Archive it instead.

Restrict a team member to one brand

Under Settings → Team, set Restrict to brand on a team member. When you invite someone, use Restrict the invitee to a brand. Leave it as No brand (organization-wide) for everyone who should see the whole organization. A restriction is strict:
  • The team member sees only that brand, never the All brands view.
  • They cannot switch brand. The brand picker shows their brand with a lock.
  • They cannot create, edit or archive brands, whatever their role.
  • Everything they create stays in their brand, and they cannot invite people or create API tokens that reach beyond it.
Nobody can lift their own restriction. Only another team member who sees the whole organization and has a role with Edit everything can change or remove it. Keep at least one such team member unrestricted.
See Team and invitations.

Brands and the API

Developers can create, list, update and archive brands through the Zippendo API and the official SDKs. Deleting a brand and lifting a team member’s brand restriction can only be done in the Zippendo app. To keep an integration inside one brand:
  • Restrict the API token to a brand. When you create the token, set Restrict to brand. Everything the token reads or writes stays in that brand. You can rename the token later, but not change or remove its brand. Create a new token instead. See API settings.
  • Name the brand on each request. An organization-wide token can work in one brand at a time by naming the brand’s slug on the request. The API reference explains how.
A token restricted to a brand can never reach another brand. A token with no brand restriction covers the whole organization.
