Each shipment can have a label and other documents, such as customs declarations, invoices and a packing slip. You find them in the Documents card on the shipment page.

Where to find them

Open Shipments, click the shipment, and scroll to the Documents card. Each row shows the Type, Format, Size and when it was Created. The types are:
  • Label: the sticker the carrier scans. Put it on the parcel before you hand it over.
  • CN22 customs declaration and CN23 customs declaration: for parcels that leave the EU.
  • Commercial invoice, Proforma invoice, Customs invoice and Certificate of origin: trade documents, depending on the carrier and destination.
  • Packing slip: the paper that goes in the box.
  • Other: any other file the carrier sent.

View, download and print

Click a row, or use the row menu:
  • View opens the document in a window, so you can check it.
  • Download saves the file to your computer. Labels are usually PDFs.
  • Print in the row’s menu sends it to Zippendo Printer. Print all at the top right of the card sends every document.
If you have not set up Zippendo Printer, download the file and print it from your computer. Field-level details: Customs and documents.
Using a Zebra or other thermal label printer? DHL Express, FedEx, PostNL and UPS let you choose Label format, including ZPL, under Extra details for the carrier when you create the shipment, or under Carrier and product on the shipping rule. If you are not sure, keep the default.

When labels and documents appear

  • After you send the shipment. Create shipment only saves it. The label and documents arrive when you click Send shipment. Before that, the card says No documents. See Send a shipment.
  • Documents from your shipping rule (packing slip and invoices) are made right after the shipment is sent, so they can take a moment to appear.
  • No label, but a warning? Some carriers accept the shipment but hand out the label a little later. The shipment shows Shipment sent with a warning. Click Fetch label to get it.
You cannot upload your own documents to a shipment. If there is no label yet, check the shipment status. Error means the carrier refused the shipment. Open it to see why.

Several parcels

A shipment with several parcels needs a label on every parcel. Print all the label pages and stick each one on its own parcel. With automatic printing on your shipping rules, labels go to your printer as soon as the shipment is sent. See Auto-print labels.
Which documents you get depends on the carrier, the product and the destination. If you need a document that is not listed, check whether the carrier offers it for your product or country, or click Configure on the Document generation card of your shipping rule and turn it on.
