A label is the sticker the carrier scans. You print it and put it on the parcel. Zippendo gets the label from the carrier when you send a shipment.

Where labels are

Every label belongs to a shipment. Open the shipment and find it under Documents to view, download or print it. See Documents and labels. There is no separate page that lists all labels. To find a label, find its shipment in Shipments.

Printing labels

  • By hand: open the shipment, then use Print (to Zippendo Printer) or Download and print the file yourself.
  • Automatically: on a shipping rule, click Configure on the Automatic printing card, turn on Print labels automatically and choose a Label printer. When a shipment that uses the rule is sent, its label goes straight to that printer. See Auto-print labels.

If a label is missing after sending

Now and then a carrier accepts a shipment but does not hand out the label straight away. The shipment is still sent and the parcel will still be collected, but it shows Shipment sent with a warning instead of a label. Open the shipment and click Fetch label in the warning to ask the carrier again. The button shows Fetching label… while it works. When the label arrives, it is saved on the shipment and, if automatic label printing is on, sent to your printer. If the carrier still cannot hand it out, contact support with the tracking number.

Label format (PDF or ZPL)

Most carriers send the label as a PDF. If you use a Zebra or other thermal printer, DHL Express, FedEx, PostNL and UPS let you choose Label format, including ZPL, under Extra details for the carrier on the shipment or in the Carrier and product section of the shipping rule. If you are not sure, keep the default. It works with most label printers. More on creating shipments and getting labels: Creating a shipment and Documents and labels.
