Create a new automation

1

Open Automations

Click Automations in the sidebar, then New automation.
2

Name it

Enter a Name * and, if you like, a Description. If your organization has brands, pick a Brand. Click Create automation.
3

Add the blocks

Click Elements and add a trigger, then one or more actions. Add Field match, Branch or Delay if you need them, and end every path with an Exit.
4

Connect and fill in

Draw a line from each block to the next. Click a block to fill in its settings on the right.
5

Save and switch on

Click Save, then click Paused in the top bar so it changes to Active.

Triggers

  • Shipments: Shipment created, Shipment sent, Shipment cancelled, Shipment error
  • Orders: Order created, Order updated
  • Tracking: Tracking updated
Orders that come in from a connected webshop do not start the order triggers. Use Shipment created to react to them.

Actions

  • Messages: Send Slack message, Send webhook
  • Shipments: Apply shipping rule, Assign carrier, Update shipment reference, Set shipment on hold, Send shipment, Cancel shipment, Create return shipment
  • Orders: Create shipment from order
  • Printing: Print label, Print document
  • Connected apps: Send Klaviyo event, Send Customer.io event, Send Mailchimp event, Send Slack notification, Send SendGrid email, Trigger Zapier Zap, Trigger Make scenario
What each action does, and what it does not do, is in Build an automation.

When it won’t save

An automation must be complete before you can save it, test it or switch it on. A red count in the top bar, such as 2 issues blocking activation, lists what is missing. Click an issue to jump to the block it is about.

Insert details from the event

Some fields, such as the Slack Message, can include details from the event, for example {{shipment.reference}}. The names you can use for each trigger are listed in Build an automation.
