Before you start
- A connected Shopify store.
- Shopify’s “third-party carrier-calculated shipping” available on your Shopify plan. Shopify includes it on Advanced and Plus. On other plans Shopify offers it for a monthly fee, or free when you switch to annual billing. Ask Shopify support if you are unsure.
- One or more shipping rules for the countries you ship to.
No carrier-calculated shipping on your plan? Use shipping method mapping instead. Your manual Shopify rates are then linked to shipping rules when orders arrive.
Turn on Zippendo rates in Shopify
When you connect your webshop, Zippendo adds itself to Shopify as a rate provider called Zippendo Shipping. You then choose where Shopify uses it. These steps happen in your Shopify admin and use Shopify’s own names:1
Open your shipping settings in Shopify
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Shipping and delivery and open the shipping profile you want to change.
2
Add the Zippendo rate to a zone
In the shipping zone, click Add rate, choose Use carrier or app to calculate rates, and select Zippendo Shipping.
3
Remove manual rates you no longer need
If the zone still has manual rates, customers see both. Remove the manual ones you no longer want, or keep them as a backup.
Choose which rules appear
1
Open your store's settings
In Zippendo, click Order channels, open your Shopify webshop on the Connected tab, and stay on the Orders & checkout tab.
2
Select shipping rules
In Checkout shipping rates, tick the shipping rules to show at checkout. If you tick none, all your organization’s rules for the receiver’s country are offered.
3
Set the number of service points
Service points at checkout sets how many service points are shown in total, from 1 to 20. It starts at 6. They are shared evenly between your service point rules.
4
Save
Click Save changes. The next checkout uses your new choice.
What your customers see
- Rules without service points appear once, named after the rule and priced by the rule’s conditions.
-
Service point rules appear once for each nearby service point: the rule’s name plus the service point’s name, with its address and distance underneath. The customer picks the exact service point:
- Prices come from the rule’s conditions (by weight, cart price or quantity). When several conditions match, the cheapest price wins. A rule without conditions is offered free of charge. A rule whose conditions don’t match the cart is not shown.
After the order is placed
The customer’s choice comes into Zippendo with the order. The shipment is created with the rule’s carrier, product and sender address, and the exact service point the customer selected, ready to send. Documents and automatic printing set up on the rule work as usual.Troubleshooting
- Zippendo Shipping doesn’t appear when you add a rate in Shopify. Your Shopify plan doesn’t include third-party carrier-calculated shipping, or Zippendo is not registered with Shopify. Check your plan first. Then, in Zippendo, open your store’s Connection & integration tab and, under Carrier service, click Check status. If nothing is registered, click Register carrier service.
- No rates show at checkout. Make sure at least one ticked rule covers the receiver’s country, and that its conditions can match the cart. Shopify also hides these rates when the cart has no delivery address yet.
- Rates show, but orders arrive without a rule. The order was placed before Zippendo was registered with Shopify, or it did not go through checkout (draft orders, Shopify POS). Those orders use shipping method mapping if you set it up. Otherwise they get a draft shipment.
