When you connect your WooCommerce webshop, its orders arrive in Zippendo so you can create and send the shipments in one place.
  • Orders arrive almost at once. WooCommerce tells Zippendo the moment an order is created, updated or cancelled. Zippendo also checks the webshop regularly in the background, so no order is missed if a message from WooCommerce gets lost.
  • Tracking goes back to WooCommerce. When you send a shipment in Zippendo, the tracking number and the fulfilled status go back to the order in WooCommerce. This is on by default. You can turn it off for each webshop afterwards, see “After connecting” below.

Before you start

  • You need a WooCommerce webshop and admin access to it.
  • For one-click connect, your webshop must use HTTPS (its address starts with https://). If it doesn’t yet, connect with API keys instead.

Connect your webshop

The quickest way is one-click connect: you enter your webshop’s address and approve the connection on your own webshop. WooCommerce creates the REST API keys for you.
1

Open the catalog

Click Order channels in the sidebar, then the Catalog tab.
2

Click Connect WooCommerce

On the WooCommerce card, click Connect WooCommerce. The Connect WooCommerce store window opens on the One-click step.
3

Enter your Store URL

Enter your Store URL, for example https://mystore.dk. If you like, choose a Default sender address: the sender address for shipments created from this webshop’s orders. You can change it later.
4

Click Connect

Click Connect. Your webshop opens so you can approve read/write access for Zippendo.
5

Approve on your webshop

WooCommerce shows its own approval screen. Approve it. WooCommerce creates the API keys and sends you straight back to Zippendo.
Back in Zippendo, you see WooCommerce store connected! and your webshop appears on the Connected tab. New orders are now imported in real time.
If you’d rather create the API keys yourself, or one-click connect doesn’t work for your webshop, click Enter API keys manually in the Connect WooCommerce store window to switch to the API keys step.
1

Create a REST API key in WooCommerce

In your WordPress admin, go to WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API and click Add key. Set the permissions to Read/Write so Zippendo can read orders and send the fulfilled status back. Copy the Consumer key and Consumer secret. WooCommerce only shows the secret once.
2

Enter your details in Zippendo

In the Connect WooCommerce store window, enter your Store URL, Consumer key and Consumer secret. If you like, choose a Default sender address.
3

Click Connect

Click Connect. When it works, the webshop appears on the Connected tab and orders start coming in.
Choose a Read/Write key. With a read-only key, orders come in, but Zippendo can’t send tracking and the fulfilled status back to WooCommerce.

After connecting

Click Order channels, then your webshop on the Connected tab, to manage its settings. On the Orders & checkout tab:
  • Order sync: Automatic sync (a regular check for new orders, as a backup, on by default), the Sync interval (minutes), Only unfulfilled orders, and Create shipments automatically to create a shipment as soon as a new order arrives.
  • Mark orders as completed in WooCommerce: on by default. Sends tracking back to WooCommerce when you send a shipment. Turn it off if you don’t want Zippendo to update the order in WooCommerce.
  • Default sender address: the sender for shipments created from this webshop’s orders.
  • Checkout token: only needed if you install the WooCommerce checkout plugin for live rates and service points at your checkout.
On the Connection tab:
  • Store URL, Status and Last sync at a glance, and Test connection to check that Zippendo can still reach your webshop with the saved keys.
  • Webhooks: the order webhooks Zippendo set up in your webshop, and whether each one works. WooCommerce can turn a webhook off after repeated failed deliveries. If one is marked Disabled by WooCommerce, click Re-register to set it up again.
  • Danger zone: disconnect the webshop. See “Disconnecting” below.
Every field is explained in Connect WooCommerce.

If another system handles your orders

Some businesses keep their orders in another system, such as a warehouse system, and use Zippendo only for shipping. If that sounds like you, open the webshop under Order channels and, under What Zippendo is used for, turn off Import orders from this webshop. From then on, the system that holds your orders is the one that marks them as fulfilled. If Zippendo is where you handle your orders, which is the usual setup, leave this switch on. To see how this works with a warehouse system, have a look at PeakWMS.

If connection fails

  • Your webshop is not on HTTPS. One-click connect only works for webshops whose address starts with https://. Connect with API keys instead.
  • A security plugin or your hosting blocks the connection. Some WordPress security plugins and hosting firewalls block WooCommerce’s REST API, or the screen where you approve the connection. Check your security plugin’s settings, or ask your hosting company to allow this traffic.
  • Wrong keys (when you enter them yourself). Check that the Consumer key and Consumer secret are correct and that the key’s permissions are Read/Write. Create a new key in WooCommerce if needed.

Disconnecting

Open the webshop from Order channels, go to the Connection tab and click Disconnect under Danger zone. This removes Zippendo’s webhooks from your webshop and stops importing new orders. Orders that already arrived stay in Zippendo.
