Best shipping software for webshops in 2026: a Nordic comparison

Ten shipping platforms for Nordic webshops on Shopify and WooCommerce, compared on price model, own carrier agreements, carriers, checkout, returns and customs.

insights

There is no single best shipping software for every webshop, but for a Nordic webshop on Shopify or WooCommerce the right choice mostly follows from two questions: do you have your own carrier agreements, and how many parcels do you send a month? With no agreements yet, start on a platform that sells you its own carrier rates, such as Shipmondo, Sendcloud (if you are invoiced in a country it supports) or Shipit in Finland. With your own agreements and a few hundred to a few thousand parcels a month, compare Shipmondo, nShift Delivery, Smart Send, Webshipper and Zippendo on what a month costs at your volume. Shopify stores that mostly want service points at checkout can look at Pakkeshopper and Smart Send. And at hundreds of thousands of parcels a year across several countries, nShift and Homerunner are built for you.

Key takeaways

  • Shipping software prices come in three shapes: a subscription plus a fee per label, a plan with shipments included, or freight bought through the platform with no subscription.

  • Check whether you can use your own carrier agreements on the plan you can afford. Several free plans only ship on the vendor rates.

  • On Shopify, service points at checkout usually need carrier-calculated shipping on your Shopify plan, whichever app you pick.

  • Look beyond PostNord and GLS: support for DAO, Bring, Budbee, Instabox, Helthjem, Posti and Matkahuolto differs a lot between vendors.

  • Most vendors offer a free plan or a free trial, so you can print a real label before you commit.

How we compared

We looked at ten shipping platforms that a webshop in Denmark, Sweden, Norway or Finland is likely to shortlist, and checked each one against the same seven points:

  1. Price model and entry price. How you pay, what the cheapest paid plan costs and what it includes.
  2. Own carrier agreements. Whether you can ship on your own contracts, on which plans, and whether the vendor also sells you its own rates.
  3. Nordic carriers. PostNord, GLS, DAO, Bring, Budbee, Instabox, Helthjem, Posti and Matkahuolto.
  4. Shopify and WooCommerce. Whether both are supported, and how your customer picks a service point at checkout.
  5. Returns. Return labels, and whether there is a return portal where customers start a return themselves.
  6. Customs. Customs declarations (CN22 / CN23) and invoices for parcels leaving the EU, including Norway.
  7. How you start. Free plan, free trial, sales call, and contract length.

Every fact below comes from the vendor's own website. Prices checked 6 November 2026, quoted in the currency each vendor publishes. Where a vendor does not publish something, we say "not published" rather than guess. Zippendo makes one of the ten tools on this list, and we have described it by the same rules as the others, limits included.

Shipmondo

Shipmondo is a Danish platform with a low subscription and a fee on every label. On every plan you can ship on carrier rates Shipmondo has negotiated, which makes it an easy start for a webshop that has no carrier agreements yet.

Price facts. The Free plan costs nothing and ships on Shipmondo rates only, with one order integration. Essentials is ≈ €13 a month and Pro ≈ €33 a month, a little less with yearly billing. When you ship on your own carrier agreement, each label carries a fee that starts at ≈ €0.08 for the first 499 labels in a month and steps down to ≈ €0.02 from 10,000 labels; from 15,000 labels you ask for a price. Connecting your own agreement costs a one-off ≈ €67 per carrier customer number (≈ €53 with yearly billing). Source: Shipmondo pricing.

Strengths. Shipmondo lists 57 carriers, including PostNord, GLS, DAO, Bring, Budbee, Instabox, Helthjem and Posti. It works with Shopify and WooCommerce, with a service point picker at checkout on both. A basic return portal with return labels or QR codes is on every plan, and customs handling is automated from Essentials.

Limits. Your own carrier agreements are not available on Free, and Essentials allows two; a third needs Pro. Because every label is billed, the cost grows with every parcel you send. Matkahuolto is not on its carrier list.

Who it fits. Small and growing webshops in Denmark that want low fixed costs, or want to start on Shipmondo rates and add their own agreements later. See our comparison of Zippendo and Shipmondo.

Webshipper

Webshipper is a Danish platform that is part of nShift, sold as plans with a set number of shipments each month. You ship on your own carrier agreements.

Price facts. Essentials is ≈ €151 a month for 500 shipments, Pro ≈ €342 for 2,000 and Advanced ≈ €771 for 5,000, all excluding VAT. Enterprise is quoted by nShift. Plans run in 30-day periods. Source: Webshipper prices.

Strengths. It connects to an unlimited number of carriers and names about 66, including PostNord, GLS, DAO, Bring, Budbee, Instabox, Helthjem, Posti and Porterbuddy. Paperless customs with CN22, CN23 and commercial invoices is on every plan. Shopify and WooCommerce both get a service point choice at checkout. Pro and Advanced add automated workflows and more workstations.

Limits. Essentials includes no workflows and one workstation. The entry price is high for a shop sending a few hundred parcels a month. The pricing page lists a return portal, but is not consistent about which plans include it. Matkahuolto is not on its carrier list.

Who it fits. Established webshops with their own agreements and a packing team that needs several workstations and automated workflows. See our comparison of Zippendo and Webshipper.

nShift Delivery

nShift Delivery is the self-signup product nShift offers small businesses, apart from its enterprise products. You sign up yourself, connect your own carrier agreements and pick a monthly volume step.

Price facts. The Essential plan starts at ≈ €34 a month for 85 shipments, month to month. Steps run up to 8,300 shipments a month; the 2,500-shipment step is ≈ €453. Each shipment above your step costs extra, from ≈ €0.41 on the smallest step down to ≈ €0.15. Professional starts at ≈ €62 and Premium at ≈ €93. Every plan has a 30-day free trial, and annual plans are also offered. Source: nShift Delivery pricing.

Strengths. Over 200 carriers, and one of the two widest Nordic lists in this guide: PostNord in all four countries, GLS, DAO, Bring, Budbee, Instabox, Helthjem, Posti and Matkahuolto. There is a native WooCommerce plugin and a Shopify app that offers service points at checkout. Return labels are on Essential, and nShift Delivery describes a branded return portal.

Limits. You choose a volume step up front, so a month above it costs extra per shipment. Batch label printing starts on Professional, and branded tracking notifications on Premium. The Shopify app is new and billed through Shopify at different prices than the website. Customs documents: not published.

Who it fits. Webshops with their own agreements that ship to several Nordic countries, including Finland. See our comparison of Zippendo and nShift Delivery.

Sendcloud

Sendcloud is a Dutch platform with a large carrier network, sold as a subscription plus a fee per label. Before you look at its prices, check where you ship from.

Price facts. The Free plan costs nothing but ships only on Sendcloud rates. Lite is €28 a month plus €0.10 per label when billed yearly, or €35 plus €0.12 billed monthly. On yearly billing the fee per label falls to €0.07 on Pro, and each plan has a label ceiling. Own carrier contracts start on Lite. There is a 14-day free trial. Source: Sendcloud pricing.

Strengths. Sendcloud lists 170+ carriers, including PostNord, GLS, DAO, Bring, Budbee and Instabee. Its Shopify integration shows service points before payment and does not need Shopify Plus. Customs documents are on Lite, and a branded return portal comes with Growth.

Limits. Sendcloud says it fully supports shipping from eight countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. Webshops in Denmark or Sweden can only ship with an invoice address in one of those countries and a direct carrier contract. Norway and Finland are not on the list. Helthjem, Posti and Matkahuolto are not on its carrier page.

Who it fits. Webshops invoiced in one of its supported countries that want a large carrier network and Sendcloud rates. See our comparison of Zippendo and Sendcloud.

Smart Send

Smart Send is a Danish app built mostly around Shopify, with label printing, service points at checkout, returns and customs.

Price facts. The Checkout plan is €12 a month with 100 orders and one carrier. Standard is €30 a month (€25 with yearly billing), with 100 orders included and €0.10 per order after that. Professional is €60 a month with 500 orders and customs handling. There is a 10-day trial and no binding period. Source: Smart Send pricing.

Strengths. A low entry price, and you work inside Shopify admin. Smart Send covers PostNord, GLS, DAO, Bring, Budbee, DHL and Danske Fragtmænd, among others. There is a WooCommerce plugin with a service point map, and Shopify returns with return labels added automatically.

Limits. Instabox, Helthjem, Posti and Matkahuolto are not on its carrier list. Its pages say both that you need your own agreement with at least one carrier and that you can ship on its agreements, so ask which applies to you. Service points at Shopify checkout need carrier-calculated shipping.

Who it fits. Small Danish Shopify stores with their own agreements that want a low monthly price.

Pakkeshopper

Pakkeshopper is a Shopify app focused on what your customer sees at checkout: service points with carrier logos and a map, plus labels from the order.

Price facts. Plans are priced in US dollars and billed through Shopify, starting with a plan that includes 500 orders a month, with a small fee per order above it. There is no free plan, a 30-day free trial on every plan and no binding period. Source: Pakkeshopper pricing.

Strengths. Its carrier list includes GLS, PostNord, DAO, Bring, Budbee, Instabox and Helthjem. You print labels for GLS, Bring, DAO, PostNord and Posti straight from the order, and a return label comes with every label.

Limits. Shopify only, with no WooCommerce. The checkout extension needs carrier-calculated shipping, which Pakkeshopper says Basic cannot get. Whether you ship on your own agreements or on its rates: not published. Customs documents: not published.

Who it fits. Shopify stores whose main need is a good service point choice at checkout.

Shipit

Shipit is a Finnish platform that combines its own negotiated carrier rates with your own agreements.

Price facts. The Free plan ships on Shipit rates only. Start is €9.90 a month with one carrier on your own agreement at €0.20 per label. Growth is €49.90 a month with three carriers at €0.16 per label, and Pro €99.90 with unlimited carriers at €0.14. You pay freight on your own agreement directly to the carrier. Source: Shipit price list.

Strengths. Strong in Finland, with Posti, Matkahuolto, PostNord, Bring, Budbee, GLS, DHL, DPD and DSV. Its Shopify checkout app offers service points, and WooCommerce is supported. Commercial invoices and export clearance are covered.

Limits. DAO, Helthjem and Instabox are not named on its site. The return tool is an add-on from €19.90 a month plus €0.50 per return. Service points at Shopify checkout need carrier-calculated shipping.

Who it fits. Webshops in Finland, especially those that want carrier rates without negotiating their own.

Homerunner

Homerunner is a Danish freight platform. Instead of a software subscription, you pay per parcel on rates Homerunner negotiates on the combined volume of its customers.

Price facts. "No setup fees. No development costs. No monthly subscriptions." Freight prices are quoted per customer and not published. Source: Homerunner prices.

Strengths. Over 40 local carriers, including PostNord, GLS, DAO, Bring, Budbee, Instabox, Helthjem, Posti and Matkahuolto. You can use your own carrier agreements where they beat Homerunner rates. Shopify and WooCommerce are supported, and there is a return portal. Customs and dangerous goods are handled as part of the shipment.

Limits. Homerunner says it is typically a good fit from around 200,000 shipments a year. You need a quote to know the price, and the commitment terms are set in the proposal. Its Shopify app needs carrier-calculated shipping.

Who it fits. High-volume webshops that want to buy freight and software in one price.

nShift

nShift is the enterprise suite behind Unifaun, Consignor, Returnado, Webshipper and Transsmart. It is sold as separate products: Checkout, Deliver, Track, Returns, Emissions and Audit.

Price facts. Not published. The nShift pricing page leads to a sales form. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, its general terms describe a 12-month subscription that renews automatically for another 12 months if neither side cancels in writing 30 days before. Source: nShift.

Strengths. Over 1,000 carriers and 450+ integrations with order, ERP and warehouse systems. It is aimed at enterprise shippers, growing retailers and marketplaces, with tools such as checking carrier invoices against your rates.

Limits. You cannot see a price or start without a sales conversation. The products are scoped and bought separately. nShift points small businesses to nShift Delivery instead.

Who it fits. Large retailers with an IT team, several markets and the volume to justify a project. See our comparison of Zippendo and nShift, or our guide to nShift alternatives.

Zippendo

Zippendo is a Danish multi-carrier platform for webshops that ship on their own carrier agreements. Each plan includes a number of shipments, and there is no fee per label on top.

Price facts. The Free plan covers 100 shipments a month at no cost, with one carrier, one order channel and two shipping rules. Standard is €79 a month with 2,500 shipments, three carriers, one order channel and five shipping rules. Growth is €159 with 7,500 shipments, eight carriers and two order channels, and Pro is €239 with 15,000 shipments, unlimited carriers and five order channels. Above the included volume each shipment costs €0.02 to €0.04, or €0.07 on Free. Source: Zippendo pricing.

Strengths. Connecting a carrier costs nothing within your plan, and there is no setup fee. Nordic carriers include PostNord, GLS, DAO, Bring, Budbee, Instabox, Helthjem, Posti and Matkahuolto. On Shopify, your customer picks a service point as a shipping option at checkout through live rates, and the WooCommerce plugin adds the same choice. You fill in customs details on the order lines. Carriers such as PostNord, Bring, DHL Express and UPS make the CN22, CN23 or invoice themselves and it appears next to the label; for other carriers a shipping rule can have Zippendo create a proforma or commercial invoice.

Limits. Zippendo does not sell carrier rates, so you need your own agreement with at least one carrier before you can ship. There is no return portal: you create return labels yourself, or let Zippendo create one when the shipment is sent. Standard allows one order channel and five shipping rules, and several brands in one account need Pro. Shipment history is kept for 30 days to 1 year, depending on the plan. Live rates at Shopify checkout need carrier-calculated shipping. Zippendo is a young company, and its Shopify app has no reviews yet. If you install from the Shopify App Store and pay through Shopify, you are billed in US dollars at the prices on the listing.

Who it fits. Webshops with their own carrier agreements that send from a few hundred to 15,000 parcels a month and want a fixed monthly price. If you are new to carrier agreements, read what to look for when you use your own carrier agreement.

How to choose shipping software for your webshop

Work through the same seven points we used, in this order:

  1. Count your parcels. Take your busiest month from last year. A fee per label is cheap at 100 parcels and expensive at 5,000, while a plan with shipments included works the other way. Put your number into the price comparison.
  2. Decide on carrier agreements. If you have none, pick a platform that sells you its rates (Shipmondo, Sendcloud, Shipit, Homerunner). If you have them, check the plan allows as many as you hold, and what each one costs to connect.
  3. List the carriers your customers expect. In Denmark that is usually PostNord, GLS and DAO. If you ship to Norway, check Bring and Helthjem; to Finland, Posti and Matkahuolto. Check each carrier is on the vendor's carrier list for the country you ship from.
  4. Check your checkout. On Shopify, service points at checkout usually need carrier-calculated shipping. Shopify includes it on Advanced and Plus; on Grow you can add it, and several vendors say Basic cannot get it. On WooCommerce you need the vendor's plugin.
  5. Decide how returns should work. A return portal lets customers start a return themselves. If you would rather approve each return, return labels from the same tool are enough.
  6. Plan for customs. Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom are outside the EU, so a parcel there needs a customs declaration. Check the tool fills it in from the order.
  7. Test before you sign. Use a free plan or trial to connect your webshop, add one carrier and print a real label. Read the contract length and notice period before you move every order.
