About WooCommerce shipping with Zippendo
WooCommerce gives you a store you fully own, but shipping is something you have to bolt on. Every order still has to be booked with a carrier, labelled, packed and marked as completed with a tracking number. Zippendo is the shipping platform that does that work. You connect your store once, orders flow into Zippendo by themselves, and you ship them with the carrier agreements you already have with GLS, PostNord, DAO and the rest.
There are two parts. The connection brings your orders into Zippendo and sends tracking back. The Zippendo for WooCommerce plugin is optional and adds live shipping rates and a pickup point selector to your checkout. Zippendo doesn't resell freight: you keep your own carrier prices, and the carriers keep invoicing you directly.
Why use Zippendo with WooCommerce?
If you have tried a separate plugin per carrier, you know how quickly that gets messy. With Zippendo, one connection and one plugin cover every carrier you use.
Orders sync without you lifting a finger
Zippendo registers order webhooks on your store, so new, updated and deleted orders arrive within moments. WooCommerce gives up on a webhook after repeated delivery failures, so Zippendo also checks your store on a schedule, every 15 minutes by default, and re-registers any webhook WooCommerce has switched off. By default only unfulfilled orders are imported, and unpaid, failed or cancelled orders never get a shipment.
Live shipping rates and pickup points at checkout
Install the Zippendo for WooCommerce plugin and add the Zippendo shipping method to your shipping zones. Your checkout then shows live rates calculated from your Zippendo shipping rules and connected carriers. When a rate is a parcel shop product, a pickup point selector appears so the customer picks a shop near them. It works in both the classic checkout and the block-based Cart and Checkout.
The chosen pickup point is shown on the order in WooCommerce admin and in the order emails, and it goes straight into the Zippendo shipment, so nobody has to type it in again. The plugin only sends the delivery address and the cart contents needed for a rate, never payment details or customer accounts. If Zippendo can't be reached, you can let the plugin offer a flat fallback rate so checkout never stops.
Labels that book and print themselves
The rate the customer chose at checkout travels with the order, so the shipment is created with the right carrier, product, sender address and pickup point. Turn on Auto-create shipments and Zippendo creates the shipment as soon as a new order arrives. Shipping rules with automatic printing send the label, and documents like packing slips, straight to your warehouse printer through the Zippendo printer client.
Tracking sent back to WooCommerce
When you dispatch a shipment in Zippendo, the tracking number and fulfillment status are written back to the WooCommerce order. This is on by default, and you can turn it off per store. Zippendo keeps following the parcel with the carrier, so you can see where it is without logging in to a carrier portal.
Return labels from the same rules
Add a return rule with a return product, such as GLS ShopReturn, and attach it to the shipping rule you ship with. Zippendo can then create the return label automatically when the outbound parcel is dispatched, or you create it with one click from the shipment when a customer asks.
Rates only, if another system owns your orders
Keep your orders in a warehouse system? Turn off Import orders from this store and Zippendo only does the checkout: rates and pickup points still show, and your other system keeps importing and completing the orders.
Getting started in three steps
- Connect your store. In Zippendo, open Order channels, click Connect WooCommerce, enter your store URL and approve the connection on your own store. WooCommerce generates the API keys for you. Store not on HTTPS? Paste read/write REST API keys instead. See Connect WooCommerce and the WooCommerce quickstart.
- Check your order settings. Open the store under Order channels, choose a default sender address and decide whether new orders should get a shipment automatically. See Connecting WooCommerce.
- Add rates and pickup points to your checkout. Download the plugin from the store's Checkout token section, install it in WordPress, paste the checkout key and add the Zippendo shipping method to your zones. It needs WooCommerce 8.0, WordPress 6.5 and PHP 8.1 or newer. See WooCommerce checkout plugin.
Carriers that work with WooCommerce
Every carrier you connect in Zippendo works with your WooCommerce store, each with your own agreement. Danish stores usually start with GLS, PostNord or DAO for parcel shop and home delivery. Bring adds pickup point, mailbox and parcel locker delivery, Budbee and Instabox deliver to lockers and homes, and DHL Express and UPS handle express and international parcels. Your shipping rules decide which carrier each order goes with, and the same rules price your checkout. See all integrations for the full list.
Running a Shopify store too? Zippendo connects to Shopify as well, and orders from both stores land in the same list. Other systems can send orders through the Zippendo API.
