About GLS Belgium

GLS Belgium is the GLS (General Logistics Systems) company for Belgium and Luxembourg, also known as GLS Belgique and GLS België. It delivers to business and private addresses in both countries, runs GLS ParcelShops and parcel lockers, and carries parcels from Belgium and Luxembourg to every EU country it reaches by road and to the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway and the rest of non-EU Europe. Your GLS Belgium contract lives in ShipIT, GLS's shipping system in Belgium, and Zippendo books straight into it.

Why ship with GLS Belgium through Zippendo?

Zippendo is a shipping platform for webshops and warehouses. Connect your own GLS Belgium contract once, and your orders become GLS shipments without anyone typing addresses into a GLS portal. You keep your GLS prices, and GLS Belgium keeps invoicing you directly. Every parcel gets its own label and GLS parcel number, in PDF or in ZPL for 203 dpi Zebra printers.

One contract for Belgium and Luxembourg

GLS Belgium serves two countries. Your sender address can be in Belgium or in Luxembourg, and GLS BusinessParcel delivers to addresses in both, up to 31.5 kg. With the warehouse in Luxembourg and the customers in Belgium, or the other way round, it is still one domestic shipment on one GLS Belgium contract. GLS ShopReturn, GLS Pick&Ship and GLS Pick&Return work across both countries too.

Delivery options for Belgian addresses

Within Belgium and Luxembourg, GLS BusinessParcel takes the services Belgian receivers know from GLS. AddresseeOnlyService hands the parcel only to the named receiver. DepositService lets the receiver say where the driver may leave the parcel without a signature, for example "Garage", and it also travels with parcels to other EU countries. FlexDeliveryService lets the receiver steer the delivery from GLS's email. GLS ExpressParcel delivers within Belgium on the next working day, by the end of the day or by 09:00, 10:00 or 12:00, and on Saturday by 12:00.

GLS ParcelShops and lockers at checkout

GLS ParcelShop Delivery takes a parcel to the GLS ParcelShop your customer chooses in Belgium or Luxembourg, or in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal or Spain. GLS Parcel Locker Delivery goes to a GLS parcel locker in Belgium. Shopify live checkout rates and the Zippendo WooCommerce plugin show the GLS points nearest the customer's postcode, leaving out points GLS marks as out of order or closed today, and the order arrives with the point the customer chose. A parcel to a point in Belgium or Luxembourg can weigh up to 31.5 kg, and up to 20 kg to a ParcelShop in another country.

The United Kingdom and the rest of non-EU Europe

GLS Parcel outside the EU takes parcels up to 31.5 kg from Belgium or Luxembourg to the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Andorra, Gibraltar, San Marino, Vatican City, the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Add the HS code, country of origin and value to your order lines and your EORI number once, and the customs data travels with every export. You choose who pays duties and taxes, and a business receiver in the United Kingdom needs its own EORI number. For goods worth 1,000 EUR or more, enter the MRN of your export declaration or let GLS file it for you.

Returns and collections

GLS Shop Returns lets a customer in any EU country GLS serves by road, except Cyprus and Malta, send a parcel back to you in Belgium or Luxembourg: with a printed label, or in 17 of those countries just a QR code shown at the ParcelShop. GLS Pick&Return collects a return at your customer's address in Belgium or Luxembourg, and GLS Pick&Ship collects a parcel at an address in either country and delivers it there. The driver brings the label for both. For one-off collections at your own address, ask GLS for a pickup under Pickups in Zippendo.

How do I connect GLS Belgium to my webshop?

Connect your shop to Zippendo, then add your GLS Belgium contract under Carriers. Zippendo has ready-made integrations for Shopify and WooCommerce, and any other system can send orders through the REST API. Your shipping rules then decide which orders go with GLS Belgium, alongside GLS Netherlands, GLS France, DPD Belgium, DHL Parcel Benelux and PostNL on the same platform. See all integrations for the full list.

Every outbound product ships from an address in Belgium or Luxembourg. You need a GLS Belgium contract and your GLS Contact ID, the ID GLS gave you with the contract. You also need your own app on GLS's developer portal, with its Client ID and Client secret, which GLS enables for ShipIT and your Contact ID: ask your GLS contact to arrange it. Exports outside the EU need GLS to enable the app for customs too, and GLS Shop Returns needs a Shop Returns app ID from GLS. The GLS Belgium setup guide in our docs walks through every field.
