About GLS France

GLS France is the French company of GLS (General Logistics Systems). It delivers to business and private addresses across France, runs the Relais GLS network of ParcelShops and GLS parcel lockers, and carries parcels from France to every EU country it reaches by road. Your GLS France contract lives in ShipIT, GLS's shipping system in France, and Zippendo books straight into it.

Why ship with GLS France through Zippendo?

Zippendo is a shipping platform for webshops and warehouses. Connect your own GLS France contract once, and your orders become GLS shipments without anyone typing addresses into a GLS portal. You keep your GLS prices, and GLS France keeps invoicing you directly. Every parcel gets its own label and GLS parcel number, and the shipment links to GLS's website so you can follow it.

Relais GLS and lockers at checkout

GLS ParcelShop Delivery takes a parcel to the Relais GLS point your customer chooses in France, or to a GLS ParcelShop in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal or Spain. GLS Parcel Locker Delivery goes to a GLS parcel locker in France. Shopify live checkout rates and the Zippendo WooCommerce plugin show the GLS points nearest the customer's postcode, leaving out points GLS marks as out of order or closed today, and the order arrives with the point the customer chose. A parcel to a point in France can weigh up to 30 kg, and up to 20 kg to a ParcelShop in another country. GLS needs the receiver's email address or phone number to send the pickup notice.

Express by 13:00 the next working day

GLS ExpressParcel from GLS France delivers within France by 13:00 on the next working day. That is the one express window GLS France sells, so you pick GLS ExpressParcel in a shipping rule and Zippendo adds the 13:00 delivery for you. For standard home delivery, GLS BusinessParcel takes FlexDeliveryService, which lets the receiver steer the delivery from GLS's email, and GLS BusinessParcel, GLS ExpressParcel and GLS EuroBusinessParcel all take parcels up to 30 kg.

Delivery across the EU from France

GLS EuroBusinessParcel takes parcels from France to every EU country GLS reaches by road except Cyprus and Malta, so a French webshop can serve customers in Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium and beyond on the same GLS France contract. FlexDeliveryService travels with those parcels too. Customers abroad who prefer to collect can choose a GLS ParcelShop in one of 11 European countries at checkout.

Returns from anywhere in the EU

GLS Pick&Return sends a driver to collect a return at your customer's address, in France or anywhere GLS reaches by road in the EU, and brings it back to you. The driver brings the label, so your customer prints nothing. With GLS Shop Returns, a customer in any of 25 EU countries hands the parcel in at a GLS ParcelShop with a printed label, and in Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and 12 more countries they can show a QR code instead. Within metropolitan France, GLS ShopReturn gives your customer a label to take to a Relais GLS point.

Collections and pickups

GLS Pick&Ship collects a parcel at an address in France, for example a supplier or a second stock location, and delivers it within France. For one-off collections at your own address, ask GLS for a pickup under Pickups in Zippendo: GLS collects at the address it holds for your Contact ID, and your regular collections stay as your GLS France contract sets them.

How do I connect GLS France to my webshop?

Connect your shop to Zippendo, then add your GLS France contract under Carriers. Zippendo has ready-made integrations for Shopify and WooCommerce, and any other system can send orders through the REST API. Your shipping rules then decide which orders go with GLS France, alongside GLS Belgium, GLS Germany, InPost, DHL eCommerce Europe and UPS on the same platform. See all integrations for the full list.

Every outbound product ships from an address in France. You need a GLS France contract and your GLS Contact ID, the ID GLS gave you with the contract. You also need your own app on GLS's developer portal, with its Client ID and Client secret, which GLS enables for ShipIT and your Contact ID: ask your GLS contact to arrange it. GLS Shop Returns also needs a Shop Returns app ID from GLS. The GLS France setup guide in our docs walks through every field.
