About Zapier
Zapier is an automation tool that connects web apps without code. A Zap starts with a trigger and then runs one or more actions in other apps. With the Webhooks by Zapier trigger and its Catch Hook option, Zapier gives you a URL that starts the Zap whenever data is posted to it. That is how Zippendo talks to Zapier.
Why connect Zapier to Zippendo?
Zippendo is a shipping platform for webshops. Orders arrive from your shop, your shipping rules book them with your own carrier agreements, and labels print in the warehouse. Each of those steps is an event Zippendo can post to Zapier, so the busywork around a shipment runs by itself in the tools your team already uses.
Put shipping data where your team looks
Start a Zap on `shipment.dispatched` and add a row to Google Sheets, update a deal in your CRM or post in a team channel. The payload carries the shipment in the same shape the Zippendo API returns, so carrier, reference and tracking details can be mapped straight into the next step.
Catch failed bookings early
`shipment.error` fires when a carrier rejects a booking and includes the order number, reference, carrier and the carrier's error message. A Zap can turn that into a helpdesk ticket or an email to whoever fixes addresses, before the customer starts asking where their parcel is.
Keep other systems in step with your orders
Use `order.created`, `order.updated` and `order.cancelled` to keep an ERP, an accounting tool or a fulfilment partner up to date, and `tracking.updated` to pass delivery progress on to your customer service tools.
Add your own fields from an Automation
Most connections send events as they happen. If you want conditions checked in Zippendo first, build an Automation that ends with the Trigger Zapier Zap action and add custom properties, for example a warehouse name or a priority flag, that the Zap can map like any other field.
What you can do with Zapier and Zippendo
- shipment.created: a shipment was created
- shipment.updated: a shipment was changed
- shipment.dispatched: a shipment was booked with the carrier and is on its way
- shipment.cancelled: a shipment was cancelled
- shipment.error: the carrier rejected a booking, with the error message
- order.created, order.updated and order.cancelled: the order lifecycle from your shop
- tracking.updated: new tracking status from the carrier
- Flat JSON payload: `event`, `timestamp` and `source` at the top, followed by the event's data
- Trigger Zapier Zap: an Automation action that sends the event with custom properties you define
- Test events, delivery log and retries: send a test from Zippendo, see every delivery, and failed ones are retried up to five times
How do I connect Zapier?
Connect your shop to Zippendo first. There are ready-made integrations for Shopify and WooCommerce, and any other system can send orders through the API. Add carriers such as PostNord, GLS or Bring, and events start flowing as soon as orders turn into shipments. Prefer a visual canvas with routers? Make works the same way. In Zapier, create a Zap with Webhooks by Zapier → Catch Hook as the trigger and copy the URL. In Zippendo, open Apps & integrations, choose Zapier, paste the Catch Hook URL and select the events.
