About GLS Ireland

GLS Ireland is the Irish company of GLS (General Logistics Systems). It delivers to business and private addresses across the Republic of Ireland, carries parcels from Ireland to Great Britain with the customs data they need, and connects Irish senders to the GLS road network across the EU and to GLS ParcelShops in 11 European countries. Your GLS Ireland contract lives in ShipIT, GLS's shipping system in Ireland, and Zippendo books straight into it.

Why ship with GLS Ireland through Zippendo?

Zippendo is a shipping platform for webshops and warehouses. Connect your own GLS Ireland contract once, and your orders become GLS shipments without anyone typing addresses into a GLS portal. You keep your GLS prices, and GLS Ireland keeps invoicing you directly. Every parcel gets its own label and GLS parcel number, and the shipment links to GLS's website so you can follow it.

Next day express by 12:00 with cash on delivery

GLS ExpressParcel delivers within the Republic of Ireland by 12:00 on the next working day, or by the end of the day when you leave the window off. Express parcels can weigh up to 30 kg and can carry CashService, where GLS collects up to 2,500 EUR from the receiver. On standard GLS BusinessParcel deliveries in Ireland, CashService collects up to 1,000 EUR, and FlexDeliveryService lets the receiver steer the delivery from GLS's email. Cash on delivery works on a shipment with one parcel, and Zippendo checks the amount before booking.

Great Britain with customs data

GLS Parcel outside the EU takes parcels up to 31 kg from Ireland to Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. Add the HS code, country of origin and value to your order lines and your EORI number once, and the customs data travels with every parcel. You choose who pays duties and taxes on the shipment, and a business receiver in Great Britain needs its own EORI number. For goods worth 1,000 EUR or more, enter the MRN of your export declaration or let GLS file it for you. Zippendo checks every order line before the shipment reaches GLS and names the one that is missing something.

Across the EU, to the door or a ParcelShop

GLS EuroBusinessParcel takes parcels up to 30 kg from Ireland to the EU countries GLS Ireland reaches by road: every one except Croatia, Cyprus and Malta. GLS ParcelShop Delivery takes a parcel up to 20 kg to the GLS ParcelShop your customer chooses in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal or Spain. Shopify live checkout rates and the Zippendo WooCommerce plugin show the GLS points nearest the customer's postcode in those countries, and the order arrives with the point the customer chose.

Returns and collections

GLS ShopReturn gives your customer in Ireland a label to hand in at a GLS ParcelShop. With GLS Shop Returns, customers in 25 EU countries can send a parcel back to you in Ireland with a printed label, and in Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and 12 more countries with a QR code shown at the ParcelShop. GLS Pick&Return sends a driver to collect a return at your customer's address, in Ireland or in the EU countries GLS Ireland reaches by road, and GLS Pick&Ship collects a parcel at an address in Ireland and delivers it within Ireland. The driver brings the label for both. For one-off collections at your own address, ask GLS for a pickup under Pickups in Zippendo.

How do I connect GLS Ireland to my webshop?

Connect your shop to Zippendo, then add your GLS Ireland contract under Carriers. Zippendo has ready-made integrations for Shopify and WooCommerce, and any other system can send orders through the REST API. Your shipping rules then decide which orders go with GLS Ireland, alongside GLS France, GLS Germany, Royal Mail, DHL Express and UPS on the same platform. See all integrations for the full list.

Every outbound product ships from an address in the Republic of Ireland. You need a GLS Ireland contract and your GLS Contact ID, the ID GLS gave you with the contract. You also need your own app on GLS's developer portal, with its Client ID and Client secret, which GLS enables for ShipIT and your Contact ID: ask your GLS contact to arrange it. Parcels to Great Britain need GLS to enable the app for customs too, and GLS Shop Returns needs a Shop Returns app ID from GLS. The GLS Ireland setup guide in our docs walks through every field.
