# Pickup point map in Shopify checkout

> On Shopify Plus, let customers pick a service point on Shopify's own checkout map, with the service points and prices from your Zippendo shipping rules.

> [!WARNING]
>
> This way to show service points is still experimental, and Zippendo sets up a separate app for your webshop first. On Shopify Plus, the [Service point picker in checkout](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/order-channels/shopify-checkout-pickup-picker.md) is the simpler choice. Only one of them can be on at a time.

Shopify checkout has its own delivery option, **Ship to pickup point**: the customer searches an address and picks a service point on a map or in a list. Shopify calls service points "pickup points". With **Zippendo Pickup Points**, that map shows the service points from your Zippendo [shipping rules](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/settings/shipping-rules.md), at your prices. When the order arrives in Zippendo, its shipment already uses the rule and service point the customer chose.

## Before you start

* A Shopify webshop on the Shopify Plus plan. The map needs a separate app, **Zippendo Pickup Points**, which Zippendo sets up for your webshop.
* A [connected Shopify webshop](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/order-channels/connecting-shopify.md).
* One or more [shipping rules](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/settings/shipping-rules.md) whose product delivers to a service point, for the countries you ship to.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Not on Shopify Plus? Your customers can still pick a service point at checkout: each one is shown as its own shipping rate. See [checkout rates](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/order-channels/shopify-checkout-rates.md).

In the **Service points at checkout** card, this is the choice **Service point map (Shopify, experimental)**. It can't be on while the [service point picker](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/order-channels/shopify-checkout-pickup-picker.md) or [service points in the cart](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/order-channels/shopify-cart-service-points.md) is on.

## Set up Zippendo Pickup Points

**1. Ask Zippendo for the app**

Contact support and ask for Zippendo Pickup Points for your Shopify webshop. Zippendo then prepares the app for you.

**2. Install the app**

Once the app is ready, open Zippendo, click **Order channels**, open your Shopify webshop on the **Connected** tab, then go to its **Orders & checkout** tab. The **Service point map at checkout** card shows **Install Zippendo Pickup Points**. Click it, then install and approve the app in Shopify.

**3. Choose Zippendo Pickup Points in Shopify**

These steps happen in your Shopify admin and use Shopify's own names. Go to **Settings → Shipping and delivery** and open **Shipping to pickup points**. Choose a location and turn on shipping to pickup points. Click **Edit rate**, and under **Apply rate to pickup points provided by**, select **Zippendo Pickup Points**. Click **Done**, then **Save**. Shopify needs at least one location with shipping to pickup points turned on.

**4. Check that it is live**

The card in Zippendo shows **Live** after a customer first uses the map at checkout. To see it yourself, start a checkout in your webshop and choose **Ship to pickup point**.

## Switch the map on

Once the **Service point map at checkout** card shows **Live**, go to the **Service points at checkout** card on the same tab. Under **Customers pick a service point from**, choose **Service point map (Shopify, experimental)**. Your customers then pick a service point on Shopify's map, and the service points are no longer listed as shipping rates. Until the card shows **Live**, this choice isn't available and customers keep seeing one shipping rate for each service point. To go back, choose **Rate list (one rate per service point)**.

If you uninstall Zippendo Pickup Points in Shopify, Zippendo switches back automatically, and your service points are listed as shipping rates again.

## What your customers see

When the customer chooses **Ship to pickup point** and searches an address, the map and list show up to about 20 service points, nearest first. Each service point shows:

* Its name and address.
* Its opening hours, when the carrier provides them.
* Your shipping rule's name as the carrier name, with the carrier's logo.
* The price from your shipping rule. Set the rule's prices in the same **Currency** as your Shopify webshop: customers who shop in another currency then see the price in their own currency.

> [!TIP]
>
> The carrier name at checkout is your rule's name. Write it the way you want customers to read it, in their language ("GLS Pakkeshop", not an internal code).

## After the order is placed

The order arrives in Zippendo with the service point the customer chose. The shipment is created with that shipping rule and service point, just like when the customer picks a service point from the shipping rates.

## Shopify's limits

These limits come from Shopify, and Zippendo can't change them:

* The whole cart must ship from one location that has every item in stock.
* Shopify doesn't offer **Ship to pickup point** when the customer starts with an express checkout button: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay or PayPal.
* Shopify doesn't offer **Ship to pickup point** to B2B customers.
* Shipping to pickup points is still new in Shopify, and Shopify may change how it works.

## Troubleshooting

* **The card doesn't show Install Zippendo Pickup Points.** Zippendo hasn't prepared the app for your webshop yet. Contact support.
* **The card doesn't show Live.** No customer has used the map at checkout yet. Check the steps in your Shopify admin: Zippendo Pickup Points must be selected under **Apply rate to pickup points provided by**, and at least one location must have shipping to pickup points turned on. Then start a checkout and choose **Ship to pickup point**.
* **No service points show on the map.** Check Shopify's limits above, and make sure at least one shipping rule with a service point product covers the customer's country. A rule whose prices are in a different currency than your Shopify webshop isn't shown.
* **Service point map (Shopify, experimental) isn't available.** The **Service point map at checkout** card doesn't show **Live** yet, or service points in the cart are on. Finish the setup first, or turn the other one off.
* **Carrier logos don't show on the map.** Click **Refresh setup** on the card.
