# Connect GLS Poland

> Connect GLS Poland under Carriers with the Username and Password of your ADE-Plus user, plus the optional Test mode. Covers products, parcel shops and lockers, return labels, pickups and tracking.

**GLS Poland** ships parcels from Poland: within the country and to the rest of the EU, to GLS parcel shops and parcel lockers, with cash on delivery, return labels for your customers and courier collections. GLS Poland has its own form: for GLS in other countries see [Connect GLS Denmark](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/connect-gls.md), [Connect GLS (MyGLS)](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/connect-gls-mygls.md) and [Connect GLS Germany, Austria, Belgium, France or Ireland](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/connect-gls-shipit.md). The fields that every carrier shares are on [Carrier credentials](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/carrier-credentials.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> You do not pick a sender address on this form. Add your addresses under the organization menu → **Manage** → **Addresses**. You choose the sender address on each shipment or in a [shipping rule](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/shipping-rule-fields.md). Every outbound product ships from an address in Poland.

## Before you start

* A contract with GLS Poland and the user name and password of your ADE-Plus user, which GLS Poland gives you with the contract. If GLS refuses the user when you send, ask GLS Poland to enable WebAPI access for it.
* For **Test mode**, a test login from GLS Poland. Your live login does not work in the test system.

## Connect GLS Poland

**1. Open All carriers**

In the sidebar, click **Carriers**, then open the **All carriers** tab.

**2. Find GLS Poland**

Find the **GLS Poland** card and click **Connect**.

**3. Fill in the form**

The **Connect carrier** window opens. Enter a **Carrier name**, your **Username** and **Password**. **Test mode** is the only field under **Optional fields**.

**4. Connect the carrier**

Click **Connect**. You see "Carrier connected", and the carrier appears on the **My carriers** tab.

## Fields on the form

| Field | Required | What to enter |
| - | - | - |
| **Carrier name** | Yes | The name you see on **My carriers** and when you pick a carrier on a shipment. It starts as **GLS Poland**. |
| **Brand** | No | Shown only if your organization has [brands](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/create-a-brand.md). The form says: "Only this brand can use this carrier." Leave it empty to let every brand use it. |
| **Username** | Yes | The form says: "The user name you sign in to ADE-Plus with. GLS Poland gives it to you with your contract." |
| **Password** | Yes | Your password, exactly as you type it. The form says: "The password of your ADE-Plus user." |
| **Test mode** | No | A checkbox, off by default. On: GLS Poland's test system. Off: the live service. The form says: "Use GLS Poland's test system. It needs a test login from GLS. Leave it off for real shipments." |

**Connect** does nothing until **Carrier name**, **Username** and **Password** have a value. Zippendo saves your details without checking them with GLS. A mistake shows up the first time you send a shipment.

### Keep the password up to date

When GLS refuses the username or password, Zippendo stops sending requests with that password for about an hour, so that repeated attempts do not get your ADE-Plus user blocked. When you change your ADE-Plus password, update **Password** on **Edit carrier** straight away. Zippendo uses the new password at once.

## After you connect

The carrier appears on **My carriers** with a **Connected** badge and a **Beta** badge. You choose the product on each shipment or in a shipping rule. See [Carrier products and services](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/carrier-products-and-services.md).

| Product | Use it for |
| - | - |
| **GLS BusinessParcel** | Delivery to an address in Poland. |
| **GLS EuroBusinessParcel** | Delivery to an address in another EU country. |
| **GLS ShopDelivery** | Delivery to the GLS parcel shop your customer chooses in Poland, Austria, Belgium, Germany or Denmark. |
| **GLS ShopDelivery to a parcel locker** | Delivery to the GLS parcel locker your customer chooses in Poland. |
| **GLS ShopReturn** (return shipment) | A return label your customer takes to a GLS parcel shop in Poland. The parcel comes back to you. |

A parcel takes at most 31.5 kg. Destinations outside the EU are not offered: these shipments carry no customs data.

When you send a shipment, Zippendo hands it to GLS straight away. In ADE-Plus each shipment shows as its own pickup receipt, named "Zippendo" and the shipment's reference. You cannot change or delete a shipment in ADE-Plus after that.

### Services and options

* **Cash on delivery**: GLS collects the amount you enter in **COD amount** (PLN) from the receiver. On **GLS BusinessParcel**.
* **Delivery before 10:00**, **Delivery before 12:00** and **Saturday delivery**: on **GLS BusinessParcel**. Choose one of the two delivery times, not both.
* **Label format**: the form says: "PDF (default), or ZPL for a Zebra label printer at 203 or 300 dpi. Labels are 10 × 16 cm."
* **Package size** (on **GLS ShopReturn**): the form says: "The size GLS prints on the return label: S up to 8 × 38 × 60 cm, M up to 19 × 38 × 60 cm, L up to 41 × 38 × 60 cm. Without it, Zippendo picks the smallest size that fits the parcel's dimensions, or L."

Your GLS contract decides which services you can use: GLS refuses a service it does not include when you send. Services are available within Poland only.

### Service points

**GLS ShopDelivery** and **GLS ShopDelivery to a parcel locker** deliver to a GLS parcel shop or parcel locker. Choose it in the **Service point** section of the shipment before you send. The receiver needs both a phone number and an email address, because GLS sends the arrival notice there. Zippendo does not send the shipment without them. See [Pick a service point](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/pick-a-service-point.md).

### Return labels

**GLS ShopReturn** is one parcel per return. Your customer is the sender and needs an email address. Zippendo shows the return label on the shipment's **Documents** tab. Pass it on to your customer, who takes the parcel to a GLS parcel shop in Poland. See [Inbound and returns](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/inbound-and-returns.md).

### Labels, tracking and pickups

* Each parcel gets its own label and GLS parcel number. GLS issues a label once, when you send. If GLS returns no usable label, Zippendo removes the shipment from ADE-Plus and tells you, so you can send it again.
* **Tracking:** once Zippendo switches GLS tracking on, GLS sends tracking updates to Zippendo as they happen. Until then, each shipment shows the GLS parcel number and a link to GLS's tracking page. Shipments sent with **Test mode** on are not tracked. See [Carrier tracking webhooks](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/tracking-webhooks.md).
* **Pickups:** you can order a GLS courier under **Pickups** for addresses in Poland. GLS collects at the address it holds for your ADE-Plus user, from the next working day on. You cannot choose a time window, and GLS takes one courier order per day. See [Schedule a pickup](https://www.zippendo.com/docs/how-to/schedule-a-pickup.md).

## Change or remove the connection

To change it, open **Carriers** → **My carriers** and click **Edit carrier** on the card. **Carrier settings** holds **Username**, **Password** and **Test mode**. Click **Save**. You see "Carrier updated".

To remove it, click **Delete** on the same page, type the carrier name in capital letters, and click **Delete**. Shipping rules that use this carrier are deleted with it. Shipments you already sent keep their labels and tracking numbers.

## Common problems

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| "Couldn't connect the carrier. Try again." | Check that every required field has a value, then try again. |
| "The carrier rejected your login details. Update the carrier credentials under Carriers." when you send | GLS refused the username or password, the user is blocked or has no WebAPI access, or a test login is used with **Test mode** off. See **Keep the password up to date** above. |
| "GLS doesn't accept this address. Check the address and postal code, then try again." | GLS refused the address, or a name, street, postal code, city or email address is longer than GLS accepts: Zippendo stops it rather than cutting it. It also shows when a **GLS ShopDelivery** receiver has no phone number or no email address, or a **GLS ShopReturn** customer has no email address. The shipment shows the reason. |
| "Some options for this carrier product are missing or not valid. Check the shipment's services and options, then try again." | Zippendo checks these before it sends the shipment: **Cash on delivery** without a **COD amount**, both delivery times, no service point or one in another country, a **GLS ShopReturn** with more than one parcel or a parcel larger than size L, or a parcel with no weight or over 31.5 kg. The shipment shows the reason. |
| "The selected carrier product does not ship between these countries. Choose a different product." | The product or service does not cover this route, for example **GLS BusinessParcel** to another country, a service outside Poland, a sender address outside Poland, or a destination outside the EU. |
| "GLS couldn't create the shipment." | GLS refused the shipment. The shipment shows GLS's reason. If it asks you to delete the shipment in ADE-Plus, do that before you send it again. |
| "The carrier did not respond. Try again in a moment." | GLS did not answer, and nothing was booked. Send the shipment again. |
| "The connection to the carrier was lost before it answered. Zippendo has no confirmation that the shipment was created, so check with the carrier before sending again." | GLS did not confirm the shipment. Look for it in ADE-Plus before you send it again, and delete it there if it is still waiting on the parcel list. |
