# Connect DSV Road (DB Schenker)

> Connect DSV Road (DB Schenker) under Carriers with your Booking subscription key and Connect access key, plus the optional Tracking subscription key, User group ID and Test mode.

**DSV Road (DB Schenker)** sends groupage, parcels, part loads and full loads on the road network DSV took over from DB Schenker, with your myDSV (formerly Schenker Connect) account. The fields that every carrier shares are on [Carrier credentials](/docs/how-to/carrier-credentials).

DSV has three carriers in Zippendo. Pick the one your DSV agreement is for: [DSV XPress](/docs/how-to/connect-dsv-xpress) for express and parcels, [DSV Road](/docs/how-to/connect-dsv-road) for road freight in myDSV, and **DSV Road (DB Schenker)** (this page) for the former DB Schenker road network and its **DB SCHENKER** products.

<Info>
You do not pick a sender address on this form. Add your addresses under the organization menu → **Manage** → **Addresses**. You choose the sender address on each shipment or in a [shipping rule](/docs/how-to/shipping-rule-fields). DSV Road (DB Schenker) ships between addresses in the EU, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway.
</Info>

## Before you start

* A myDSV (formerly Schenker Connect) account that DSV has set up for online booking, and its access key. Ask your DSV contact to set it up.
* An account on [developer.dsv.com](https://developer.dsv.com) with a subscription to **Booking - Connect**, plus **Tracking - Connect** if you want your shipments tracked. Each subscription's primary key is on your **Profile** page there.
* A written note to your DSV contact that Zippendo sends DSV shipments on your behalf. DSV's terms ask for it before you send.
* For **Test mode**: the test access key and subscription keys for DSV's Connect test environment. Ask your DSV contact for them.

You can connect DSV Road (DB Schenker) more than once. Give each connection its own **Carrier name**. **Learn more** on the card opens DSV's page about road transport.

## Fields on the form

| Field | Required | Description in the form | What to enter |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Carrier name** | Yes | | The name you see on **My carriers** and when you pick a carrier on a shipment. It starts as **DSV Road (DB Schenker)**. |
| **Brand** | No | Only this brand can use this carrier. | Shown only if your organization has [brands](/docs/how-to/create-a-brand). Leave it empty to let every brand use it. |
| **Booking subscription key** | Yes | Primary key of your subscription on developer.dsv.com (Profile page) to "Booking - Connect". | The primary key from your **Profile** page on developer.dsv.com. |
| **Connect access key** | Yes | The access key from Usage Registration → Maintain User - Customer → Access Key in myDSV (formerly Schenker Connect). | The access key from that menu in myDSV. |
| **Tracking subscription key** | No | Primary key of your subscription on developer.dsv.com (Profile page) to "Tracking - Connect". Shipments are not tracked without it. | The primary key from your **Profile** page, if you subscribed to tracking. |
| **User group ID** | No | Your Connect user group ID, if your Connect administrator says shipments need one. | Digits only. Ask your Connect administrator. |
| **Test mode** | No | Use DSV's Connect test environment. Requires the test access key and subscription keys from DSV. | A checkbox, off until you tick it. Leave it off for real shipments. |

**Connect** does nothing until **Carrier name**, **Booking subscription key** and **Connect access key** have a value.

**Test mode** sends your shipments to DSV's Connect test environment instead of the real one. The test keys only work with **Test mode** on, and your live keys only with it off. Leave it off for real orders. See [Test mode](/docs/how-to/sandbox-mode).

## After you connect

The carrier appears on **My carriers** with a **Connected** badge. You choose the product on each shipment or in a shipping rule, not on this form. See [Carrier products and services](/docs/how-to/carrier-products-and-services). A product that is not on your DSV agreement is refused when you send, with DSV's reason.

| Product | Use it for | Default **Package type** |
| - | - | - |
| **DB SCHENKERsystem** | Groupage by road across Europe: parcels and pallets combined in DSV's land network | **Colli (CI)** |
| **DB SCHENKERparcel** | Parcels by road in DSV's former DB Schenker network | **Colli (CI)** |
| **DB SCHENKERparcel premium** | Faster parcels by road in the same network | **Colli (CI)** |
| **DB SCHENKERpart load** | Part loads by road, for shipments too large for groupage | **Euro pallet (EP)** |
| **DB SCHENKERfull load** | Full truck loads by road | **Euro pallet (EP)** |

DSV charges road freight by volume, so every parcel needs a weight, a length, a width and a height. **Package type** (**Colli (CI)**, **Box (BX)** or **Euro pallet (EP)**) applies to every parcel in the shipment.

DSV Road (DB Schenker) has no return product and no service points in Zippendo.

### Services and extra details

Choose services on the shipment or in a shipping rule.

| Service | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Home delivery** | DSV delivers to a private address. |
| **Tail lift** | DSV sends a truck with a tail lift. |
| **Delivery notice by email** | DSV emails the receiver before delivery. Needs the receiver's email address. |
| **Delivery notice by SMS** | DSV texts the receiver before delivery. Needs the receiver's phone number. |
| **Pallet exchange** | **DB SCHENKERsystem**, **DB SCHENKERpart load** and **DB SCHENKERfull load** only: DSV exchanges pallets at delivery. |
| **Cargo insurance** | DSV insures the cargo. Fill in **Insured value**. |
| **Cash on delivery** | DSV collects the **Cash-on-delivery amount** from the receiver. |

Under **Extra details for the carrier** you also find **Label format** (**PDF (A6)** or **ZPL (thermal)** for a label printer), **Package type**, and **Currency** for the insured value and the cash-on-delivery amount.

### Customs

A shipment that leaves or enters the EU (to or from the United Kingdom, Switzerland or Norway) needs both **Export declarant** and **Import declarant**. The choices are **By DSV**, **By someone else**, **Not required** and **Not specified**. Neither has a default, because DSV may charge for a declaration it makes.

Your VAT and EORI numbers come from [Organization settings](/docs/how-to/organization-settings), or from the brand when it has its own customs identifiers. Give every order line a price in the shipment's currency, so the value of the goods is declared. To send a commercial or proforma invoice with the shipment, turn on **Generate commercial invoice** or **Generate proforma invoice** under **Document generation** in the shipping rule. See [Customs and documents](/docs/how-to/customs-and-documents).

### Pickups and tracking

* DSV Road (DB Schenker) is not available under **Pickups**. DSV collects every shipment as part of the shipment itself. See [Schedule a pickup](/docs/how-to/schedule-a-pickup) for the carriers that are.
* The **Pickup details** section does not appear for these products, so you cannot set a pickup window on a shipment you create in Zippendo. A shipment created through the [Zippendo API](/docs/api-reference/overview) with pickup details is collected in that window. Otherwise Zippendo asks DSV to collect between 09:00 and 17:00: the same day when you send before 15:00 on a weekday, or else the next weekday.
* Zippendo cannot cancel a DSV Road (DB Schenker) shipment. Contact DSV with the tracking number.
* When **Tracking subscription key** is filled in, Zippendo fetches tracking updates from DSV about once an hour, and they appear on the shipment's **Tracking** tab. There is nothing else to set up. Without the key, no tracking events appear. See [Carrier tracking webhooks](/docs/how-to/tracking-webhooks).
* The tracking number is the number DSV gives the shipment, and the **Tracking link** opens DSV's public tracking page.

## Change or remove the connection

To change it, open **Carriers** → **My carriers** and click **Edit carrier** on the card. The **Edit carrier** page has two sections:

* **General**: **Carrier name**, and **Brand** if your organization has brands.
* **Carrier settings**: the same DSV Road (DB Schenker) fields as on the connect form, including **Test mode**.

Click **Save**. You see "Carrier updated".

To remove it, click **Delete** on the same page, type the carrier name in capital letters, and click **Delete**. Shipping rules that use this carrier are deleted with it. Shipments you already sent keep their labels and tracking numbers.

## Common problems

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| "Couldn't connect the carrier. Try again." | Check the required fields, then try again. |
| "You've reached your plan's limit. Upgrade your plan or remove something you no longer use." or "You're over your plan's limits. Upgrade your plan or remove what you no longer use." | Your plan's carrier limit is reached. See [Billing and usage](/docs/how-to/billing-and-usage). |
| "The carrier rejected your login details. Update the carrier credentials under Carriers." when you send | A subscription key or the access key is wrong, or your keys do not match **Test mode**. Fix it on **Edit carrier**. |
| "The carrier's settings are incomplete or not valid. Check them under Carriers." | Your myDSV account is not set up for online booking yet, or **User group ID** contains something other than digits. Fix the field, or ask your DSV contact to finish the setup. |
| "Carrier product not found." | The product is not on your DSV agreement. Choose another product, or ask DSV to add it. |
| "DSV Road (DB Schenker) couldn't create the shipment." | DSV refused the shipment. The shipment shows the reason, for example a parcel without its size, or a delivery notice without the receiver's email address or phone number. Fix it and send again. |
| "Some options for this carrier product are missing or not valid. Check the shipment's services and options, then try again." on a shipment leaving or entering the EU | **Export declarant** or **Import declarant** is missing. The shipment shows which one. Choose both under **Extra details for the carrier**. |
| "The selected carrier product does not ship between these countries. Choose a different product." | DSV Road (DB Schenker) ships within the EU, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway. Choose another carrier for other countries. |
| "The connection to the carrier was lost before it answered. Zippendo has no confirmation that the shipment was created, so check with the carrier before sending again." | The connection was lost, or DSV could not say whether it created the shipment. Check myDSV first. Send the shipment again only if DSV has no shipment for it. |
| "The carrier accepted the shipment but its label couldn't be downloaded. The parcel will still be collected. Use Fetch label on the shipment to try again." | Click **Fetch label** on the shipment. Do not send the shipment again. |
| "We can't reach the carriers right now. Try again in a moment." or "The carrier rejected this. Check the carrier's reason, correct the details and try again." | DSV or Zippendo's connection to it is down, or DSV refused the request. Try again later, or fix what DSV names. |
