# Connect DPD Latvia

> Connect DPD Latvia in Zippendo with an API token from eServiss, and choose between test and live with Test mode. For senders in Latvia.

**DPD Latvia** sends parcels from Latvia to businesses and homes across the EU, to DPD Pickup service points and lockers, and brings customer returns back to you. The fields that every carrier shares are on [Carrier credentials](/docs/how-to/carrier-credentials).

<Info>
You do not pick a sender address on this form. Add your addresses under the organization menu → **Manage** → **Addresses**. You choose the sender address on each shipment or in a [shipping rule](/docs/how-to/shipping-rule-fields). DPD Latvia ships from an address in Latvia, and returns come back to one.
</Info>

## Before you start

* A DPD Latvia customer account with access to **eServiss**, DPD Latvia's customer portal. Ask DPD Latvia's support team ([support@dpd.lv](mailto:support@dpd.lv)) to link your contract to your eServiss user. Until they do, DPD refuses your shipments.
* An **API token** from eServiss. Open **Token list**, create a token and copy it: DPD shows it only once. Leave its validity empty to keep the token until you delete it. Everything sent with the token is invoiced on your DPD account.
* To use **Test mode**, a token from DPD's sandbox eServiss, which needs its own registration. A live token does not work in the sandbox, and a sandbox token does not work live.

You can connect DPD Latvia more than once. Give each connection its own **Carrier name**. **Learn more** on the card opens DPD Latvia's website.

## Fields on the form

| Field | Required | What to enter |
| - | - | - |
| **Carrier name** | Yes | The name you see on **My carriers** and when you pick a carrier on a shipment. It starts as **DPD Latvia**. |
| **Brand** | No | Shown only if your organization has [brands](/docs/how-to/create-a-brand). The form says: "Only this brand can use this carrier." Leave it empty to let every brand use it. |
| **API token** | Yes | Your token from eServiss. It is long, so paste it whole. The form says: "An API token from eServiss, DPD's customer portal: open Token list and create one. DPD shows it only once." |
| **Test mode** | No | A checkbox, off by default. The form says: "Use DPD's test environment. Requires a token from the sandbox eServiss, DPD's test portal." |

**Connect** does nothing until **Carrier name** and **API token** have a value.

**Test mode** sends your shipments to DPD's sandbox. A sandbox token only works with **Test mode** on, and a live token only with it off. Leave it off for real orders. See [Test mode](/docs/how-to/sandbox-mode).

## After you connect

The carrier appears on **My carriers** with a **Connected** badge. You choose the product on each shipment or in a shipping rule, not on this form. See [Carrier products and services](/docs/how-to/carrier-products-and-services). A product that is not on your DPD contract is refused when you send, with DPD's reason.

| Product | Delivers to | Max weight |
| - | - | - |
| **DPD Classic** | Business addresses in Latvia and every other EU country except Cyprus and Malta. | 31.5 kg |
| **DPD Home** | Home addresses in the same countries, with DPD's delivery notices. | 31.5 kg |
| **DPD Pickup** | One parcel to a DPD Pickup service point or locker in Latvia and 16 other EU countries. | 20 kg |
| **DPD Return** (return shipment) | Your customer in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Germany or Poland drops a parcel at any DPD Pickup service point, and DPD delivers it to your address. | 20 kg |

Every DPD Latvia shipment needs the receiver's email address, and a phone number for both you and the receiver. Every parcel needs a weight. Labels are A6 PDF, one page per parcel. A name longer than 35 characters is shortened. A street line longer than 35 characters is refused, so shorten it or move the rest to the second address line.

Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom are not offered. Cash on delivery, Saturday delivery and DPD's timed 10:00 and 12:00 services are not offered either.

### DPD Pickup service points

**DPD Pickup** delivers to a service point. Choose the service point in the **Service point** section of the shipment before you send. The search lists DPD service points and lockers near the receiver's postal code. See [Pick a service point](/docs/how-to/pick-a-service-point) and [Service points](/docs/how-to/drop-point-and-service-points).

### Returns

**DPD Return** brings a parcel from your customer back to your address in Latvia. Your customer drops it at any DPD Pickup service point, so a return needs no service point on the shipment.

### Labels that do not arrive

If DPD accepts a parcel but its label does not arrive, the shipment stays sent. Click **Fetch label** on the shipment to get the same label. It does not create a second parcel.

### Pickups, tracking and customs

* DPD Latvia is not available under **Pickups**. Arrange collections in eServiss or with DPD Latvia directly. You cannot set a pickup window on a DPD Latvia shipment. See [Schedule a pickup](/docs/how-to/schedule-a-pickup) for the carriers that are.
* Zippendo fetches tracking updates from DPD about once an hour. There is nothing to set up. A parcel to another country can stop updating once it leaves the Baltic countries. Its **Tracking link** opens DPD's tracking page for the rest of the journey. See [Carrier tracking webhooks](/docs/how-to/tracking-webhooks).
* Every destination is inside the EU, so DPD Latvia shipments need no customs documents. See [Customs and documents](/docs/how-to/customs-and-documents).

## Change or remove the connection

To change it, open **Carriers** → **My carriers** and click **Edit carrier** on the card. The **Edit carrier** page has two sections:

* **General**: **Carrier name**, and **Brand** if your organization has brands.
* **Carrier settings**: **API token** and **Test mode**.

Click **Save**. You see "Carrier updated". When a token expires or you delete it in eServiss, create a new one and paste it into **API token**.

To remove it, click **Delete** on the same page, type the carrier name in capital letters, and click **Delete**. Shipping rules that use this carrier are deleted with it. Shipments you already sent keep their labels and tracking numbers.

## Common problems

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| "Couldn't connect the carrier. Try again." | Check that **API token** is filled in, then try again. |
| "You've reached your plan's limit. Upgrade your plan or remove something you no longer use." | Your plan's carrier limit is reached. See [Billing and usage](/docs/how-to/billing-and-usage). |
| "The carrier rejected your login details. Update the carrier credentials under Carriers." when you send | The token has expired or was deleted, or it does not match **Test mode**. Create a new token in eServiss and paste it on **Edit carrier**. |
| "DPD Latvia couldn't create the shipment." | DPD refused the shipment. The shipment shows the reason, for example an invalid postal code, a missing receiver email address, a missing phone number, or a street line that is too long. Fix it and send again. |
| "This product delivers to a service point. Select a service point before sending." | Choose a DPD Pickup service point on the shipment. |
| "The selected carrier product does not ship between these countries. Choose a different product." | Choose a DPD Latvia product that covers the receiver's country. |
| "The carrier accepted the shipment but its label couldn't be downloaded. The parcel will still be collected. Use Fetch label on the shipment to try again." | Click **Fetch label** on the shipment. Do not send it again. |
| "The connection to the carrier was lost before it answered. Zippendo has no confirmation that the shipment was created, so check with the carrier before sending again." | Check in eServiss whether the shipment exists before you send it again. |
| "We can't reach the carriers right now. Try again in a moment." or "The carrier did not respond. Try again in a moment." | DPD or Zippendo's connection to it is down for a moment. Wait and send again. |
